Introducing Simon Wood

-What is your name?

Simon Wood

-What genre do you write in?

Mystery and thriller and occasionally horror.

-What drew you to this genre?

I saw THE DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS when I was six and became a horror fiend from that moment. This lead to horror books and I was forever buying horror anthologies and novels. My love crime novels came later. Although I was a big noir movie fan, when a friend of mine gave me a copy of Raymond Chandler’s LADY IN THE LAKE, I knew from then on, I’d be splitting my love between horror and crime. I guess I am drawn to the nature of a force that is much larger than any person that can come in and yank the rug from under you.  That’s horror and that’s crime.

-What book(s) have you written?

I’ve written over a dozen books. My most notable titles are ACCIDENTS WAITING TO HAPPEN, PAYING THE PIPER and THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY.

-What is your current release?

-How much research went into that book?

This idea has been percolating for a while so I didn’t have too much research to do.  Where I do put a lot of time is in the crime scenes.  I tend to ‘walk the crimes’ in the actual locations and I stress test all the escape routes—which I do enjoy doing.

-What was the hardest part of writing that book?

Emotional scenes are always the toughest to write.  Striking the right note takes time and a ton of rewriting. Action scenes are a blast.

-Is this work part of a series?

Yes, it’s the second book in the Scott Fleetwood and Tom Sheils series, with PAYING THE PIPER being the first.

– Where can your book(s) be found?

Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Audible, iTunes.

-Reading time is valuable. Sell me on your book.

For SAVING GRACE, a kidnapper known as the Shepherd makes national news when he snatches a child from a vacationing family.  The Shepherd wants two things for the safe return of the child—money and Scott Fleetwood. Events are going to be played out in real time in front of the eyes of the media.
